When was orthodontics recognized as a dental specialty

What is the competent authority for specialists registration

The Slovak Medical University, Limbova 12, 83303 Bratislava, Slovakia

What is the outline of the national specialists training program (as required by the competent authority)

The education – training program: 3 years full time program, organized at the medical school of the university (either in Bratislava or Kosice) or at private accredited practices (accreditation must be approved by the Slovak Medical University (see above). This program is finished by a state exam, which consists of: 1) presentation of 8 cases with finished treatment 2) diagnosis and treatment plan of one patient (not known to the candidate) 3) written (scientific) work on a determined topic 4) oral exam.

Is continuous education (CE) mandatory; If so, how organized

Continuous education of orthodontic specialists is mandatory, the dental chamber checks collected points every five years. Points are collected by attending lectures and courses given by well known specialists.
